By Senior Daily Staff Last Updated Wednesday, September 8, 2021 12:59 pm

Paramount+ has posted free replays of the 2020 Star Trek Day panels featuring Patrick Stewart, Scott Bakula, George Takei and other cast members.

In honor of Star Trek Day on Tuesday September 8, 2020, Paramount+ sponsored live panel discussions featuring Star Trek stars and creators.

Below is the Picard and The Next Generation Panel where Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (William T. The trio also covers the impact of reuniting for Star Trek: Picard and more.

The original Star Trek premiered on September 8, 1966 and to celebrate its 54th anniversary, Paramount+ held an all-day celebration featuring cast members from the original series and its seven spinoffs.

Host for the celebration was Wil Wheaton, who portrayed Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation.  Wheaton moderated eight panels, beginning with the cast of Star Trek: Discovery and culminating with Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes who discussed Star Trek: Picard as well as The Next Generation.

The very first broadcast of Star Trek was on Sept. 8, 1966, when Star Trek premiered with “The Man Trap,” the pilot episode Star Trek.

“On that day, “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry introduced audiences to a world that championed diversity, inclusion, acceptance and hope. Fifty-four years later, Paramount+ will honor this important day and the franchise’s enduring legacy, with this virtual Star Trek Day event that will allow fans to enjoy and celebrate all things “Star Trek” from their own home,” Paramount+ said in their announcement of Star Trek Day.

The 2020 Star Trek Day panels are:

About Star Trek: Picard (from Wikipedia)

Star Trek: Picard is an American web television series created for Paramount+ by Kirsten Beyer, Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon and Alex Kurtzman. It is the eighth series in the Star Trek franchise and centers on the character Jean-Luc Picard. Set at the end of the 24th century, 20 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis (2002), the storyline focuses on the impact of the destruction of the android Commander Data, which occurred in the climax of that film, as well as the destruction of the planet Romulus, which occurred in the 2009 film Star Trek.

Patrick Stewart is the executive producer of the series and stars as Picard, reprising his role from Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as other Star Trek media. Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, and Isa Briones also star. Several actors from previous Star Trek series also reprise their roles, including Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan, Marina Sirtis, and Jonathan Frakes.

Stewart recently appeared on The View and invited Whoopi Goldberg to return to the series.  Here’s what happened:
