If you missed the latest REI sale (the July 4 Sale ended on July 7) you can expect the next big sale in August.  Plus, you can find year-round deals on hiking gear, clothing, electronics and more.

When Are The Best REI Sales?

REI stores typically have five major sale dates every year where REI usually offers coupons for 20% off plus discounted prices on many goods.  Here is the annual REI sales calendar:

  • March 14-25, 2025: Member Sale
  • May: Memorial Day / Anniversary Sale.  This is REI’s biggest annual sale.  You can find it at:  REI Anniversary Sale
  • July: Fourth of July Sale
  • August: Labor Day Sale
  • November: Black Friday / Cyber Monday Sale

REI Trade-In Sale

Also at REI, get credits of $100 or more by trading in your used gear.  Also you can buy used equipment at big discounts.

To get a credit for your gently used REI gear, find your items online and review the trade in value. Trade in items include REI tents, packs, running shoes, boots and jackets. If you want to go ahead with the trade in, fill out the form and take your trade-ins to an REI store, or REI will send you a trade-in kit with a mailing label.

REI Trade In Sale

The Trade In program is online only, not offered in stores.  All items must be clean, in good working order, and in sellable condition. Items heavily stained, damaged and/or requiring repair will not receive trade-in credit.

REI Trade In Terms:

We only issue gift cards in exchange for functional used gear that is within the used gear buy-back guidelines. Evaluation of items submitted and determination of trade in value, if any, is up to our discretion. $6 will be deducted from your gift card to pay for shipping costs. Once you have sent your gear to us, we cannot return it for any reason. Review our terms and conditions and accompanying FAQ for more information.

REI Membership

You can sign up for an REI Co-op membership at any time. It costs a one-time $30 fee, after which you’ll have access to a host member-only events and benefits throughout the year—including exclusive discounts during sales.
