Fire Tablets on Sale; Lowest Price Ever

By Senior Daily Staff Last Updated Thursday, December 26, 2024 11:12 am

Amazon’s newest Fire HD Tablets are on sale now through December 25, 2024, at some of the lowest prices ever.

Amazon’s most recent tablet is the Fire HD 8, which had a new release on October 2, 2024.  The new model offers better performance resulting from more memory and a faster processor, according to Amazon.

The basic Fire HD 8 has an 8″ High Definition screen (1280×800 resolution) and 32GB of storage, and is regularly priced at $99.  During Amazon’s Holiday sale it is discounted to $54.99, a savings of $40.  This matches the lowest price on record.

Fire Tablet Differences

Amazon currently produces three main models of its Fire HD tablets, the Fire HD 8 with an 8-inch screen, the HD 10 with a 10-inch screen, and the Fire Max 11 with an 11-inch screen. There are also kids versions of the HD 8 and HD 10.

The Fire HD 8 was updated with a new release in 2024 that offered a faster processor and more memory. The Fire HD 10 was last updated in 2023.  The Fire Max 11 is still on its first release, which was in 2023.

All the Fire tablets enable you to:

  • Watch videos on Netflix, Hulu or more apps
  • Connect with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and more through Amazon’s Appstore
  • Use video chat apps like Zoom, or ask Alexa to make video calls to friends and family.
  • Check email, update shopping lists, and set reminders. Use your favorite apps like Microsoft Office, OneNote, and Dropbox.
  • Use hands-free with Alexa, including on/off toggle.

Which Fire Tablet is Best?

Most tech reviewers say the Fire HD 10 offers the best balance of value and features.  While the Fire Max 11 has a larger, higher resolution screen, the HD 10’s price makes it a better value.

“The Fire HD 10 remains our favorite of Amazon’s tablets,” says Wired magazine.  Amazon refreshed it in 2021 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) with a brighter screen and 3 gigabytes of RAM.”

Fire Tablet vs Kindle Reader

The Fire tablet is not the same as the Amazon Kindle ebook reader.  On the plus side, the Fire tablet can be used for far more than reading ebooks.  It is a full-color, high definition tablet that you can use to watch movies, browse the internet, use social media, listen to music – most anything you can do with a much more expensive tablet like an iPad.

The Fire Tablet is not the best device for just reading books – the Kindle Paperwhite wins that distinction – but it’s much cheaper and much more versatile.
