TCM Film Fest

Turner Classic Movies is celebrating their annual Classic Film Festival now through Sunday, May 9, 2021.

On May 6-9. 2021, TCM is featuring classic films, some freshly restored, alongside new interviews and special presentations. As was done in 2020, this year’s event is an at-home celebration. In “normal” times the festival is in Hollywood, where film stars, film historians and fans meet in person and watch classic films.

This year’s opening feature is a 60th anniversary presentation of West Side Story., TCM will feature a cast reunion conversation with Rita Moreno, George Chakiris and Russ Tamblyn.

Another highlight, at 9:30 pm Sunday, is The Goodbye Girl (1977), which incudes a recent TCM conversation with the star, Richard Dreyfuss

Marsha Mason plays a divorced mother and ex-Broadway dancer, who learns that her lover has left her only when an aspiring actor played by Dreyfus arrives to sublet the apartment in the middle of the night. Their uneasy truce blossoms into love.

TCM is showing these recent film restorations during the festival. All times below are Eastern Time.

Doctor X (1932), new restored by UCLA and Warner Bros. 1:30 AM ET May 7
Whistle at Eaton Falls (1951), a new restoration by Flicker Valley. 10:00 AM ET May 7
Annie Get Your Gun (1950), a 4k restoration from the original negative. 11:45 AM May 7
Let Me Come In (2021), a short experimental film featuring restored reels from the German silent film Pawns of Passion (1928). 3:15 am May 8
They Won’t Believe Me (1947). A recent 4k restoration from the nitrate film, including the addition of 15 minutes from the original footage that was cut in previous showings. 8 pm May 8
Her Man (1930), world premier of a restored version. 8:45 AM May 9
Princess Tam Tam (1935). World premiere of a recent restoration. 12:45 pm May 9
So This is Paris (1926). World premiere restoration featuring a new score by composer Ben Model. 8 pm May 9

TCM and HBO Max

Also new this year is a TCM collaboration with HBO Max, which will feature new, exclusive film discussions and interviews with special guests, panels and unique presentations, brand new film introductions, rarely seen behind-the-scenes footage and, of course, even more unforgettable classic movies.
