Where can I find a good fishing spot near me?
Every fisherman, new and experienced, often asks that question. If you’re new to the sport, new to your state, or just need a new fishing hole for the grandkids, here is some help on finding fishing spots near you.
Public Fishing Spots for Every State
Most state wildlife agencies provide information on places to fish, with some providing interactive online maps, and others posting simple lists with text. Some states also provide a list of ADA accessible fishing spots for disabled anglers. Every state provides information on licensing and regulation, and many add how-to information and regular fishing reports.
In the listings below, you’ll find fishing spots at public ponds, lakes and waterways in every state. Most provide bank fishing opportunities that you can find in the maps below. Another place to fish is around boat ramps, which usually offer fishing spots nearby. Fishing off a boat ramp itself is often not allowed for safety reasons, but you can usually fish from a nearby bank, and some ramps have a separate fishing pier. You can find boat ramp locations for your state below.
Some states also offer stocked fishing spots at Community Fishing Spots, Family Friendly Fishing, Urban Fishing Spots, and mountain trout streams and tailwaters. Many states also stock lakes and ponds with trout, bass, and catfish.
Here are the state-by-state links to help you find your fishing spot, whether you plan to wade in a trout stream, sit on a dock, or fish from the bank. Good luck to all!
