D-Day Film Fest on TCM

Turner Classic Movies marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Thursday, June 6 with 12 classic war films including The Longest Day and Saving Private Ryan.

Here are the movies in the TCM D-Day Marathon starting at 6:00 AM June 6 and running until Friday morning, June 7.  All times are ET.

Thursday, June 6

  • 6:00 AM Code Name: Emerald (1985) 1h 33m | Adaptation | TV-14. An agent for the Germans is sent to uncover the plans for D-Day. Director Jonathan Sanger, Cast Ed Harris, Max Von Sydow, Helmut Berger.
  • 8:00 AM The Americanization of Emily (1964) 1h 57m | War | TV-PG. A British war widow falls for an opportunistic American sailor during World War II. Director Arthur Hiller, Cast James Garner, Julie Andrews, Melvyn Douglas.
  • 10:00 AM George Stevens: A Filmmaker’s Journey (1984) 1h 50m | Documentary | TV-G. Biography of the Academy Award winning director including dramatic color footage of WWII. Director George Stevens Jr., Cast Fred Astaire, Warren Beatty, Pandro S. Berman.
  • 12:00 PM 36 Hours (1964) 1h 55m | War | TV-PG. Nazis kidnap a key American intelligence officer and try to convince him that World War II has ended, and he can talk about the D-Day invasion. Director George Seaton, Cast James Garner, Rod Taylor, Eva Marie Saint.
  • 2:00 PM Red Ball Express (1952) 1h 23m | War | TV-PG. A racially integrated platoon fights to overcome their differences during World War II. Director Budd Boetticher, Cast Jeff Chandler, Alex Nicol, Charles Drake.
  • 3:30 PM D-Day the Sixth of June (1956) 1h 46m | War | TV-PG. An American and a British soldier in love with the same woman head for the Normandy Invasion. Director Henry Koster Cast Robert Taylor, Richard Todd, Dana Wynter.
  • 5:30 PM George Stevens: D-Day to Berlin (1994) 50m | Documentary | TV-14. This documentary follows American troops from D-Day 1944 to their stand in Berlin 1945. Director George Stevens Jr., Cast George Stevens Jr., Carl Davis, Peter Howell.
  • 6:30 PM Overlord (1975) 1h 25m | War | TV-MA. A young soldier undergoes grueling training in preparation for the D-Day invasion. Director Stuart Cooper, Cast Brian Stirner, Davyd Harries, Nicholas Ball.
  • 8:00 PM Saving Private Ryan (1998) 2h 50m | War | TV-MA. A special detachment fights through war-torn Europe to find a man whose brothers have all been killed in combat. Director Steven Spielberg, Cast Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Ed Burns.
  • 11:00 PM The Longest Day (1962) 3h | War | TV-G. The story of the Allied invasion of Normandy in World War II. Following dozens of characters. Director Ken Annakin Cast John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, Henry Fonda, Robert Mitchum.

Hitler’s most feared undercover secret agent in Britain has learned an apparent army build-up in southeastern England is a trick into luring the Germans into thinking tat the Allied invasion will strike at Calais, not Normandy.
