Here are the best new movies and series for seniors from the major TV streaming services. Highlights for June include Presumed Innocent, Harry Wild Season 3, I Am: Celine Dion, My Lady Jane, Deadliest Catch Season 20, Bridgerton Season 3, and Mayor of Kingstown Season 3.

What’s New On Acorn TV

Acorn TV specializes in British films and TV shows, particularly mystery series like Dagliesh, Harry Wild, Manhunt, Line of Duty, Foyle’s War, George Gently, Midsomer Murders, and Murdoch Mysteries.

New to Acorn TV are:

  • Brokenwood Mysteries Season 10  (all episodes available June 3)
  • Harry Wild Season 3 (all episodes available June 10)
  • My Life is Murder Season 4 (starts June 17)

What’s New On Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video has dozens of original series and movies, plus thousands of new and classic TV shows and movies.  An Amazon Prime membership gives you both Prime Video plus free shipping on Amazon orders, and more benefits.

Notable new shows and movies on Amazon Prime are:

  • Oppenheimer (June 18). Winner of the 2024 Academy Award for Best Picture and six other Oscars, Oppenheimer follows the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons during World War II.
  • Federer: Final 12 Days (June 20). An intimate follow-along through the final 12 days of Roger Federer’s illustrious career. Originally a home video never intended for public viewing, the film captures Federer at his most vulnerable and candid self, as he says goodbye to a game and the fans that shaped his life for the last two decades.
  • I Am: Celine Dion (June 25). A behind-the-scenes look at the iconic superstar’s struggle with a life-altering illness.
  • My Lady Jane (June 27). A British television series adapted from a series of novels that provided a historical reimagining of the life of Lady Jane Grey, written by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand and Jodi Meadows.

What’s New On AMC+

AMC+ has exclusive new series like Dark Winds and Sam Spade, plus classic AMC series like Mad Men and The Walking Dead.  AMC+ also has top shows from BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV, Shudder, Sundance Now and IFC Films Unlimited.

What’s New On Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has exclusive series like Monarch, The Morning Show, Ted Lasso and Slow Horses, documentaries like Prehistoric Planet, and new movies.  Some of the top new shows on Apple TV+ are:

  • Dark Matter (starts May 8, final episode June 26): Based on the bestseller by Blake Crouch.  A man is abducted into an alternate version of his life.
  • The Big Cigar (starts May 17, final episode June 14):  André Holland stars as Black Panther leader Huey P. Newton in this six-part series.
  • Presumed Innocent (starts June 12, final episode July 24):  Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this eight-part series based on novel of the same name by Scott Turow.  In 1990 the novel was dramatized in a hit movie starring Harrison Ford.
  • Land of Women (starts June 26, final episode July 24). This dramedy stars Eva Longoria as a well-to-do New Yorker who has her life turned upside down when her husband fails to repay a debt to the wrong people.

What’s New On BritBox

BritBox is another streaming service like Acorn TV that specializes in British TV shows and movies.

BritBox shows include classic British mystery series like Agatha Christie’s Poirot and Miss Marple, plus Sherlock Holmes, Vera, Inspector Morse, Lewis and Father Brown. BritBox also offers original series like Karen Pirie.

Recent and upcoming additions to Britbox are:

  • Blue Lights S2 (June 13).
  • Responder S2 (July 11).

What’s New On The Criterion Channel

The Criterion Channel offers almost 3,000 of the finest American and international classic films like Fellini’s 8 1/2, Chimes at Midnight, The Asphalt Jungle, The Long Goodbye and Fanny and Alexander.

Highlights of new collections on Criterion are Directed by Paul Schrader,  Set in Venice, Starring Shirley MacLaine, 1999, Hollywood Crackup and 1950: Peak Noir.

950: Peak Noir is a collection of film noir pictures from 1950, which has been called the peak of the genre.  Classics included in the collection are films by directors like Nicholas Ray, Billy Wilder, and John Huston.  Titles include films exposing racism (NO WAY OUT) and mob violence (TRY AND GET ME!), melodrama and “women’s pictures” (CAGED, THE DAMNED DON’T CRY), heist capers (THE ASPHALT JUNGLE), road movies (GUN CRAZY), and even cynical self-portraits of Hollywood itself (SUNSET BOULEVARD, IN A LONELY PLACE).

What’s New On HBO Max

HBO Max – now rebranded as just “Max” – is HBO’s online streaming service that gives you access to HBO’s original series such as Succession, Game of Thrones, plus many movies, recent and classic, and TV series such as Friends.  HBO also partners with TCM to bring you many classic movies like The Maltese Falcon and Asphalt Jungle.  Max also includes many popular shows from Discovery, HGTV, and Food Network.

  • The Sympathizer (season finale May 26)
  • The Jinx Part Two (season finale May 26).

  • Deadliest Catch Season 20 (starts June 11). Deadliest Catch, narrated by Mike Rowe and featuring crab boat captains like Keith Colburn, Sig Hansen, Phil Harris, Bill “Wild Bill” Wichrowski, Jake Anderson, Josh Harris, returns for its 20th season.

What’s New On Hulu

Hulu is a premium streaming service that offers some of the top TV series, movies and documentaries. Notable new additions to Hulu are:

  • Under the Bridge (all episodes available May 29).  A Dramatization of the 1997 true story of fourteen-year old Reena Virk’s disappearance in 1997.
  • Shardlake, a series based on the mystery novels of C.J. Samson (starts May 1).
  • Eileen,  a psychological thriller starring Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie (May 10).
  • Uncle Samsik, a South Korean period drama television series set in the turbulent backdrop of the 1960s about the transformation of Korea into an industrial power (May 15).
  • Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini (June 20). Keith and Sherri Papini’s seemingly idyllic life is shattered when Sherri vanishes from their rural California neighborhood, triggering a frenzied search that becomes news around the world.
  • Diane Von Furstenberg: A Woman in Charge (June 25). An intimate view of the fashion designer.

What’s New On MGM+

MGM+ (formerly called Epix) is an American premium cable and satellite television network owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The channel’s programming consists of recent and older theatrically released motion pictures, original series like Belgravia and A Spy Among Friends, documentaries, and music and comedy specials.

Notable new additions to MGM+ are:

  • Billy the Kid Season Two (June 2).
  • Hotel Cocaine (starts June 16).

What’s New On Netflix

Netflix is the world’s top streaming service with 158 million paid memberships in over 190 countries. Netflix has dozens or original series and movies, plus thousands of TV shows and movies, both recent and classic, American and international.

Some of the top new shows on Netflix are:

  • Bridgerton Season 3 (starts May 16, final episode June 11): As a new crop of debutantes yearns to become the brightest of the ball, a wallflower with a double life finds her light amid secrets and surprises.
  • The Parisian Agency: Exclusive Properties (May 20): This reality series follows the Kretz family and their luxury property business as they help clients buy and sell fabulous homes in France and abroad.
  • Eric (May 30):  Benedict Cumberbatch stars as a man whose his nine year old son disappears one morning on the way to school.
  • Owning Manhattan (June 28). Real estate mogul Ryan Serhant leads one of the biggest firms in New York and pushes his agents to greatness while tackling the most expensive listings.
  • Netflix Games:  Netflix expands its online games in June-July with titles like Netflix Stories: Perfect Match and Harmonium: The Musical Tales of the Shire.

What’s New On Paramount+

Paramount+ (formerly known as CBS All Access) offers original series like 1883,  Mayor of Kingstown, and Star Trek Picard, plus your favorite CBS shows.
